non sequitur

Apparently my rooms has taken some creative license with our blog. I don't even recognize this place anymore. I suppose that is my own fault.

Words with Friends and Twitter have taken over my life.

I attempted to take the CrimsonRide today because I was cold and ended up taking 37 minutes to get from AXO to Riverside.

I have embarked on the saga that is "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." I may never be the same.

Vienna sucks.

That's all I got,

oops

today, in the simple effort to help liz out with Haiti Benefit Concert responsibilities, i accidentally placed an order for approximately $1000 worth of publicity posters. thank goodness for sweet Office Max employees who call to confirm your outrageous order. much to the dismay, i'm sure, of the Office Max company, i only walked out of there with $45 worth of flyers.

sometimes i worry about how i'm going to survive in this world.

love is not a victory march

i began watching "dawson's creek" because lizzie would often reference the show and her love for it. i very much enjoy watching tv on dvd, so i decided to give the series a go. little did i know how attached i would become or how in love i would fall with the characters. this past semester was easily the most disappointing semester for me since college began. life became too overwhelming at times, and "dawson's" became my escape. i'm not saying this is a good thing, but i worked for me...

consequently, i found watching the final episode last night oddly symbolic. second semester is fast approaching, and i am looking at it as a fresh start. leaving "dawson's" behind is almost like leaving the unmet expectations of the fall behind me as well. the capeside gang was there for me when i needed them, and now i am ready to take on the coming semester! (it's really not as sad as it sounds... haha)

for those of you that despise the show, i do apologize for my unrestrained gushing. regardless, meet my new friends...
they just joined joined the ranks of monica, rachel, phoebe, ross, chandler, and joey.

it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah,
b

p.s. bachelor premier last night was epic. get ready for a trashy season... looks like it's gonna be a wild ride!

hello 2010

"certainty is the mark of the commonsense life- gracious uncertainty is the mark of the spiritual life. to be certain of God means that we are uncertain in all our ways, not knowing what tomorrow may bring. this is generally expressed with a sigh of sadness, but it should be an expression of breathless expectation."
-oswald chambers

i absolutely love this quote, and hope it can be an encouragement to you in the start of this new year. to me, this is such a hauntingly beautiful concept. all certainty found in what this world has to offer must be let go of in order to find true rest. with this, i encourage you to wait with breathless expectation as the Lord reveals what 2010 has in store for you...

cheers!

merry christmas... happy new year... and all that good stuff

just thought that i would wake our hibernating blog for a brief post to both wish you, dear reader that remembers our blog still exists, a very merry christmas season... and to express my love for our game-playing friends.

so first off, i do realize that it is the day after christmas, but still, i wish you a very merry one. i love everything about christmas: the lights, the music, the food, the shopping, the magic, the love. i know it all can become overwhelming and the true meaning can get lost in the social expectations of the holiday... even still, i hope you were able to hold on to the truth and experience the wonderful gifts all around us. not the physical ones the santa left under the tree, but the gifts of time with family & friends, love for one another, and the opportunity to forgive. there is just something special about this time of year!

secondly, i would like to send many thanks to my friends who love a good game night. in explanation, for christmas i received one of my favorite games in the whole wide world, TABOO! taboo was not actually on my christmas list, but it was an extremely thoughtful gift from my mom, who, as i look back, must have endured many-a-story centered around a "tuscaloosa taboo game night." she was thinking more towards next year when jane and i will have our own place and will need a collection of games of our own. so, as most people do with toys received on christmas, i wanted to play my new game. unfortunately, there were many things wrong with that idea. in short, my family is horrible at playing games. tonight that was demonstrated in style as i attempted to orchestrate a jovial game of taboo. fail.

lesson learned: save the game-playing fun for either the nursing home... or college!

wishing you the best as you make your new years resolutions, good luck in their execution, and roll tide...
